“Bloom” Nakiri Kitchen Knife

In my opinion, Brad is one of the finest Master Cutlers in Europe. Design, Form and Function are unsurpassed. Heirloom Cutlery at its finest.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start.

I’ve spent more money than I’d like to admit on Japanese knives over the years, but the MK-1 Double Saber (Somewhere in the Galaxy) is easily my favourite knife I’ve owned. Since getting it, it’s the one I reach for every day.

The weight and balance just feel right. It takes a great edge, sharpens easily, and has had no problem keeping up with the 50–70kg of prep I do every week as a chef. It’s one of those knives that just feels like it was made to be used.

I was that impressed with it that I ended up commissioning a custom knife as well. The whole process has been brilliant. Every question I’ve asked has been answered, and the amount of time that’s gone into talking me through different steels, profiles and handle options has been amazing.

The thing that impressed me most was that it never felt like I was being pushed towards spending more money. The advice was always about what would suit me best, not what would make the biggest sale. That’s pretty rare these days and says a lot about the person behind the knives.

It’s obvious there’s a lot of pride in the work, and it shows in the finished product. I honestly couldn’t recommend Handfab enough, and I’m looking forward to seeing my custom knife finished.

I'm always in awe of people who can create something that's both beautiful and functional with their own hands. I'd been following HandFab (Brad) for quite a while before finally taking the plunge and buying one of his knives, and I'm so glad I did. The craftsmanship is exceptional, with real attention to detail, and the performance is every bit as impressive. It cuts like a laser. A fantastic piece of work that I'm proud to own.

The quality of this gentleman’s offerings is hard to put into words. Brad is an old soul, his designs, blending of cultures and most importantly the ability to mix together steel, handle material, form and function is a timeless art that few people of our generation would could even comprehend yet alone master. The ergonomics, edge of the carbon steel blades and over all function of his cutlery is some of the finest bespoke knives that I have ever come across in my lifetime. So many good things to say: first of all, the knives are great and have excellent cutting performance. Prices are really really fair, to say the least. The design is creative and unique. And Brad is a super nice and passionate knifemaker!! If you’re on the lookout for some serious blades from up and coming makers, he’s one I’d seriously consider.

Had a few things from Jamie over the last few months - a couple of slate hammers and a knife. Couldn’t be happier with both, definitely realise they’re worth the money when you have them in your hand. Knife was a gift for a mate who was over the moon with it and knew the theme behind it straight away. Always communicates well and always happy to help. I’ll definitely be buying more in the future🙂

I ordered a custom bunka called Marrow and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Communication was brilliant, with fast replies, plenty of detail, and complete transparency around the steel, geometry, handle materials and finish. Every question I had was answered clearly, which made the buying process feel really reassuring.

The knife itself is beautifully made and full of character. The craftsmanship, balance, handle work and overall design are all superb. I haven’t used it properly yet, but first impressions are fantastic and it feels great in a pinch grip.

A genuinely special handmade knife with real personality. No bones about it, I’m very happy.
